A simple solution with immediate impact
To address this challenge, the development opted to apply Imperflex Roofings, a solution specially developed for waterproofing and protecting roofs. When applied in white, this solution also helps to reflect solar radiation, thereby reducing heat absorption by the surfaces.
The solution was implemented in early September 2025 by the village’s own maintenance team, in a quick and efficient response across the resort’s various units.
According to Joel Fonseca, a painter at Club Albufeira Garden Village, the effect is noticeable from the very first moment:
‘Applying a "cool roof” coating in the Algarve was simple and made an immediate difference. The heat here is intense and you can clearly feel how the surface stays cooler to the touch. Customers are surprised when they realise that a roof coating can reduce the indoor temperature so much, especially on the hottest summer days.’
Greater comfort and lower energy consumption
Improvements to the roofing has helped create more comfortable indoor environments for guests, particularly during the hottest periods. By reducing the heating of surfaces exposed to the sun, the system also helps reduce the need for continuous use of air conditioning.
For António Carlos Lino, a representative of CIN’s Sales Department, this type of solution directly addresses the needs of regions with hot climates:
‘In the Algarve, where the sun is intense for much of the year, paints with “cool roofs” technology are a practical solution highly valued by customers: lower energy consumption, greater comfort for users and a quick return on investment. Every project confirms this technology is not just a trend, but a sustainable and effective solution for hot climates.’
