HOW TO APPLY DT-METAL IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS
1. Prepare the surface
• All surfaces should be dry, free of grease, poorly adhering rust, mill scale, dust and other contaminants.
• Next, sand to provide a slight surface profile to the substrate.
• A properly clean surface is the foundation of a long-lasting finish.
• Ferrous metals don’t require primer. Non-ferrous metals (like galvanized steel or aluminum),we recommend one even coat of Acrylic Primer for metal.
2. Apply DT-METAL enamel
• Apply two or three even coats using a brush, roller or spray gun.
3. Let it dry
• Its fast-drying time means you can apply two coats on the same day.
1. Does DT-METAL need a primer?
No. DT-METAL has been developed for direct application to ferrous metals, eliminating the need for a primer on properly prepared surfaces.In case of non-ferrous metals, we recommend one coat of Acrylic Primer for metal.
2. Can it be applied to rusted metal?
Yes, provided any loose rust is removed beforehand and the surface is clean and properly prepared for painting.
3. Can it be used outdoors?
Yes. DT-METAL offers excellent weather resistance, making it suitable for exterior applications.
4. How many coats should be applied?
Two or three coats are recommended to ensure effective protection and an even finish.
5. What surfaces can it be applied to?
DT-METAL is suitable for ferrous metal surfaces, including gates, railings, structures, doors, window frames and furniture.

7. What is the difference between DT-METAL and a standard enamel paint?
DT-METAL has been specially formulated to adhere directly to metal without the need for a primer, unlike conventional enamels, which require a coat of anti-corrosion primer before application.
8. Can DT-METAL be applied over old paint?
Yes. Providing the existing coating is sound, the surface should be sanded and thoroughly cleaned with a suitable thinner to remove grease and other contaminants. If the coating is not in good condition, it must be removed with a paint remover.
9. How long should you wait between coats?
Between 4 and 6 hours.
10. Is DT-METAL environmentally friendly?
DT-METAL is a water-based paint with low odour and lower emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) than solvent-based paints.
