How to eliminate mould and damp stains
Do your kitchen walls have mould? Is your bathroom ceiling showing damp patches? Is there algae or moss growing on your exterior walls?
These are some of the most common problems found in homes, whether in the city or the countryside. Excess moisture and condensation inside our homes, particularly during the colder, wetter months, can encourage the development of mould, especially when ventilation is poor. These problems should be prevented to keep your home healthy and comfortable.
- First, wash the entire affected surface with a 5% bleach solution. Then rinse thoroughly several times with clean water to remove all traces of the solution.
- To eliminate the mould, apply one or two coats of undiluted Polyprep Descontaminant Artibiose (a fungicidal and algicidal disinfectant liquid), as the bleach solution lightens the blackened areas, making them less visible. Carefully mark out the areas to be disinfected. This product is available in CIN stores.

- After 24 hours (the minimum time needed for the disinfectant solution to act), scrub the entire surface.
- Once dry, paint the whole surface using the most appropriate paint. For ceilings, we recommend Ceiling Paint – an extra-matt, water-based paint specially formulated for ceilings, which can be applied in a single coat. It doesn’t splatter, is easy to apply, and dries quickly. For interior or exterior walls, you can consult our Product Advisor, where you’ll find the right product to complete your project.
- For more effective results, add Antifungal and anti-algae additive to the paint. This helps water-based paints resist mould and algae growth. It is recommended when water-based paints are applied in conditions that favour their development (very humid areas and/or north-facing façades).

Protect your family from these microorganisms, as they can cause or worsen respiratory problems.
