Steel: blast clean the steel to Sa 2½ grade, according to ISO 8501-1. The roughness profile should be adjusted, depending on the thickness of the product to be applied. Remove powder residues and abrasive residues from surface. These indications are generic, applicable to several products and merely informative.

Galvanized Surfaces: remove any oil soap film using a neutral detergent. Treat the surface in accordance with a lightly blast with fine abrasive. If galvanizing has been exposed to exterior weathering for 6 months or more, remove zinc corrosion products by mechanical means, like power sander. Remove oil grease with the cleaner.
